About the Project

Alphabird is a fintech startup that aims to simplify crypto investing for novice investors through AI.

Problem Statement

Our goal is to provide detailed information about each token (referred to as Bird) in a straightforward and understandable format for investors with minimum knowledge.

Interview

I conducted interviews with six individuals in my network who had some familiarity with cryptocurrency but did not invest often. Here’s what I discovered:

What got you interested in cryptocurrency investing, and how’s your experience been so far?	– Intrigued by the technology behind cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance. – Heard success stories of early investors and wanted to explore the potential for high returns. – Experience has been both thrilling and nerve-wracking, with moments of significant gains followed by sudden market dips.
What difficulties have you faced while investing in cryptocurrencies? Anything particularly confusing or intimidating?	– Understanding the differences between various cryptocurrencies and their potential. – Navigating the complexities of cryptocurrency exchanges and wallet management. – Feeling overwhelmed by the volatility and rapid price changes in the crypto market.
How do you choose which cryptocurrencies to invest in? What tools or sources do you use for research?	– Following the hype of market – Seeking advice from experienced investors and following reputable cryptocurrency news websites for market insights.
Have you struggled with existing crypto investment platforms? If yes, can you explain?	– Faced challenges with platform user interfaces that were not intuitive or user-friendly. – Requiring KYC
What do you expect from AI-powered solutions for crypto investing? How do you think they could help you?	– Anticipate AI-powered solutions to provide more accurate market predictions and investment recommendations based on data analysis. – Hope for automation of routine tasks such as portfolio rebalancing and risk management to save time and minimize human error. – Expect AI algorithms to adapt and learn from user behavior, providing personalized investment strategies tailored to individual preferences and goals.
What information is critical for you to make an investment decision?	– Monitoring market trends and price history to gauge the direction of the market. – Conducting fundamental analysis, including examining the technology, team, and market fit of a cryptocurrency project. – Staying informed about news and events in the cryptocurrency space to stay ahead of potential market-moving developments. – Conducting a thorough risk assessment to understand potential downsides and protect my investment capital. – Diversifying my investment portfolio across different cryptocurrencies and strategies to mitigate risk.
What features do you want in an ideal crypto investment platform? Anything missing in the current market?	– Integration of comprehensive educational resources, including tutorials and courses on cryptocurrency basics and investment strategies. – Enhanced security measures such as multi-factor authentication and insurance coverage for assets stored on the platform. – Implementation of social trading features to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among investors, similar to traditional stock trading platforms.

Benchmark

I compiled a list of financial apps that provide detailed information about each token/stock, including:

Defining Requirments

I started by listing the information needed for each Bird’s profile, such as the bird’s name, logo, sectors, risk level, etc.

The Idea of Bird Score

I proposed a scoring system to simplify the comparison process for investors. This system would be immensely beneficial for investors but challenging for our technical team. Regardless, I convinced the team to pursue it, given its potential value.

Wireframing

Based on the requirements and benchmarks, I drafted a sketch of my idea. After discussing with my team and making some adjustments, we agreed on the left-side wireframe as the baseline for our profile, with the intention of adding more details later.

Hi-Fi Design

I then designed the High-Fidelity on Figma based on the wireframes.

Usability Test

After designing the MVP of Alphabird, I conducted a usability test to validate the design of key features like the Bird’s Profile.

Here are some of the main feedback points I received from this test about Bird’s Profile:

• Issue: Some parts of the app still require financial and crypto knowledge
  • Solution: Adding a hint button in front of complex sections like “Market Volatility”

• Issue: Users couldn’t compare the birds in a card view listing and had to open the details.
  • Solution: Redesigning the card and adding some important information like the “return time” and “risk-level” tags.

Developer Handoff

Following all of this, I prepared a handoff for developers to begin working on the features.
